What is the legal age to open a checking account?
You must be at least 18 to open a checking account in your own name. Checking accounts may be opened with a parent or guardian as a joint owner beginning at the age of 14. Learn more about Youth Checking and Savings accounts. -

What identification is required to open an account?
Two forms of ID are required. Acceptable forms of ID include:
Current Wisconsin driver's license* or Wisconsin State ID
Plus one of the following:
- Current utility bill with the same address as license
- Current pay stub with the same name and address as license or ID
- Milwaukee County ID
- VA ID
- Passport
- Debit card or credit card of another financial institution
- Military ID
- Please note that social security cards, birth certificates, Sam's Club membership cards and library cards are not acceptable forms of ID for opening a new account with Landmark.
*We cannot accept the paper receipt that the DMV issues for you to use while you wait to receive your license or ID card in the mail; we will require the plastic ID card.
