A check is post-dated when the date on the check is in the future from the day it was written. Landmark will not accept a post-dated check for deposit.

Fees depend on what type of overdraft protection you have. If your account becomes overdrawn. based on eligibility and enrollment, Landmark will have the discretion o pay the overdraft. The different types of overdraft protection that we offer and the fees included are listed below.

Overdraft Protection
If enrolled on an eligible account, Landmark will transfer funds from your other deposit account(s) or linked lines of credit to your checking account when the available balance in your checking account is not enough to cover a transaction. A $5 Overdraft Transfer fee will be assessed for each transaction that is covered under the Overdraft Protection.

Premium Overdraft Protection
Once granted for an account, Premium Overdraft is available for checks, internet bill payments and ACH transactions. Premium Overdraft may also be available for one-time debit card and ATM transactions if you opt-in to be considered for this service. Subject to the current cap on the number of fees (5 per day per account) you will be charged a fee of $30 each time we pay an overdraft or decline a transaction for insufficient funds and your transaction amount exceeds the current balance in your account.

Fee applies when overdraft is created by check, in-person withdrawal, ATM withdrawal, point of sale transaction or other electronic means. Multiple fees may be charged if you execute multiple transactions.

This is called an encoding error. It is caused by a data entry error at the merchant's financial institution. We will initiate a correction for this type of error. Please contact us for assistance.

You must be at least 18 to open a checking account in your own name. Checking accounts may be opened with a parent or guardian as a joint owner beginning at the age of 14.

A debit or ATM card may also be obtained at age 14 with the parent or guardian signed on the application. The parent or guardian may not be removed from the checking account or debit/ATM card until the minor reaches the age of 18.

Two forms of ID are required. Acceptable forms of ID include:

• Current Wisconsin driver's license* or Wisconsin State ID

Plus one of the following:

• Current utility bill with the same address as license
• Current pay stub with the same name and address as license or ID
• Milwaukee County ID
• VA ID
• Passport
• Debit card or credit card of another financial institution
• Military ID

Please note that social security cards, birth certificates, Sam's Club membership cards and library cards are not acceptable forms of ID for opening a new account with Landmark.

*We cannot accept the paper receipt that the DMV issues for you to use while you wait to receive your license or ID card in the mail; we will require the plastic ID card.

This can easily be done at a Landmark branch or by filling out an online application. If you would like to apply at a branch and you are adding another account to your existing membership, only one of you has to come into the branch to set up the account and obtain the necessary documents. The documents can then be executed by the second account owner in the presence of a notary and returned to Landmark. If you have any additional questions, you can contact us.

The availability funds from your deposit will depend on the type of item you deposit and how you deposit it; for example, items deposited at ATMs or through a CO-OP Shared Branch location may have a longer hold than items deposited at one of our branches. Checks made payable to two people connected with "and" will require signatures of both people. Checks made payable to two people connected with "or" or "/" will require a signature of only one person. Checks made payable to two people connected without "and" , "or" , or "/" will require a signature of only one person, unless the payees are a husband and wife. Due to Wisconsin law, signatures of both spouses would still be required. Checks made out to two different parties can be deposited at a branch or through our mobile deposit feature within the mobile app.

A Landmark Official Check is void after 90 days. This is also printed on the front of the check.

Typically, checks take around 7-10 business days to arrive after placing your order. Most check products have trackable shipping, allowing you to monitor your order. If your order doesn’t arrive within this timeframe or if you encounter any tracking issues, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Our most convenient option for ordering checks is through Digital Banking. However, please note, we changed check vendors in May 2024. If this is your first order with Deluxe, our new vendor, it’s best to contact us or visit a branch. Reorders can easily be done through Digital Banking after your first check order.  

Once ordered, checks will typically be delivered within 7-10 business days. Here are all the methods you can use to order checks.

Members aged 55 and above who have a Landmark checking account (VIP, Rewards or Premium) are eligible to receive one free box of Landmark checks per calendar year. To receive this free box of checks, you must order at a branch or by contacting us.
