Activities For Labor Day

A couple celebrate Labor Day weekend with some fun outdoor games.

With Labor Day weekend just around the corner, you may be wondering what you and your family can do to safely celebrate some extra time off. Maybe you’ll hit some local trails for a nice day of hiking or save yourself a slice of sand to camp out on a beach. If you’re planning on spending the long weekend at home, we’ve put together a few fun activities to celebrate Labor Day with the family.

Backyard Games

Set up some backyard games and create a tournament for your family to compete in during the day. Whether it’s a game of Bags (Cornhole), backyard bowling or any other game you can set up in your yard, you can enjoy a fun day of games with your family. Bonus points if you create you own game or backyard obstacle course.

Complete DIY Projects

Maybe you’ve had a few DIY projects saved on your Pinboard for some time now. With the long weekend ahead of you, now may be the perfect time to tackle a few of those projects. Especially if some of the projects require time to dry or set, you can take advantage of the long weekend to get everything done in time. If you want the whole family involved, look through different DIY project boards for ideas everyone can help with.

Take Some Time for Self-Care

Sometimes the perfect recipe for a long weekend is to do absolutely nothing. Enjoy a nice bubble bath, read that book you’ve been waiting to pick up or binge-watch a show your friends have been recommending to you for a while now. With how hectic life can be for many, a weekend without a schedule or plan can be the perfect time to unwind and recharge your battery.

Do an Activity You Don’t Normally Have Time For

Do you ever make a lengthy to-do list of things you want to get done, but a two-day weekend just simply doesn’t allow enough time? The long holiday weekend is your chance to do those activities. Whether it’s cooking up a large, time-consuming meal for your family or finally completing a home project, time is on your side this weekend.

Make a Dessert Together

Make your weekend a little sweeter by creating sweet treats with your family. Every member can help by gathering ingredients, mixing them together or decorating the final product. Let your culinary creativity fly and afterwards you can all enjoy your tasty creation. You’ll be able to enjoy a delicious dessert while making great memories for your family in the process. And this is a great activity in case the weather doesn’t allow for outdoor activities.

Labor Day may look a little different this year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make the most of it. By getting creative and taking advantage of a long weekend, you can enjoy a nice weekend at home with the whole family.
